I'm so excited that my kids are finally playing on soccer teams and I'm helping coach! Karys had her 1st game this past weekend with her team, The Gnats. Their coed team plays 3 on 3 while 2 coaches from each team stay on the field with them to be the referees, coaches, cheerleaders, nose & tear wipers, etc.
Karys had fun, but got upset when someone got the ball from her or she missed kicking the ball in the goal. They were all so cute. They followed the ball around in little bunches (like gnats,) and occasionally, a kid (sometime mine) would break out of the group with the ball. They would kick the ball toward the correct goal (most of the time) and then run right past it and kick the ball out of bounds.
After scoring, I told Karys to do a happy dance. That is what she is doing in the picture. She calls it her 'silly score dance'. Both teams scored a lot, so much that we couldn't keep count. All in all, it was fun and we're looking forward the next game which isn't for a few more weeks.
